Get hold of some theatre tickets in London for top class entertainment

London boasts an embarrassment of riches when it comes to plays, musicals, opera and more, so if you can get your hands on some theatre tickets in London, you’re bound to have a memorable evening.

The choice varies from big glitzy West End shows to smaller, more intimate venues. You might laugh, cry, or both – it depends what kind of mood you’re in! Getting hold of your tickets couldn’t be easier, either: there are plenty of websites offering last minute deals or discounted rates. You can also buy tickets from kiosks offering cheap deals, and some theatres have spare seats available just before a performance – sometimes it’s good to try your luck and see what happens. You never know, you could witness something unforgettable!

If you’re stuck for a birthday present idea, why not help the planet?

These days, a gift doesn’t have to cost the earth – in more ways than one. It’s becoming easier to come up with a birthday present idea that’s fairly inexpensive, and that benefits the environment as well.

For example, many charities and other ecologically minded organisations sell gifts that do some good somewhere in the world. Your gift money might provide running water in a remote village, for example, or plant new trees in a sustainable forest to help preserve our carbon dioxide absorbing friends. A little online searching through charity websites and other environmental organisations is bound to uncover the perfect gift for your favourite eco-warrior!

Average house prices are a useful financial indicator

It’s always difficult to ascertain the wealth of a nation or how affluent an area is without looking at a few key factors. You might consider the GDP, or the retail sales index, but it’s also worth looking at the average house prices across a region (or even country) over time.

This will give you a good idea of what property is worth in real time, and you might be able to compare previous measurements to see whether or not things have gone up or down. It’s all very useful when trying to pin down the numbers on where money is moving, and how it’s behaving, as well as how successful a particular area or country has been.

It’s easy to keep up to date with UK house prices

It’s been a volatile period for UK house prices, made worse by the financial crisis and subsequent low interest rates. Great for the homeowner not looking to sell, as mortgage repayments have fallen; not great for anyone wanting to move on, who may have found it’s simply not practical at the moment.

Keeping up to date with the latest developments in the housing market has never been easier, luckily. The internet offers a huge range of news sites, dedicated property sites and comparison sites. You can find out what’s happening in the market, get advice and hopefully make good decisions based on the prices out there at the moment.

Understanding the Dubai property market demands good language skills

Buying property anywhere requires some serious thought and preparation, and an encounter with the Dubai property market should be well-planned and thought out. Buyers will need several languages – Dubai is an international city and business may demand it, so a good grasp of the local language is definitely an asset when purchasing bricks and mortar. It may well help cement the deal!

If language isn’t your forte, it might be wise to employ a translator to help with any negotiations. Property is rarely straightforward and meanings can easily be lost in translation, so having an ally who is fluent in the language of local business (and with the customs and practices of that business) would be a smart move. Money talks, but that means nothing if people can’t understand what it’s saying…

Festival season means the gazebo business gets a boost

The link between summer festivals and the gazebo business may not be immediately obvious, but there is a strong connection once the summer months arrive. Festival season means hundreds of thousands of people will decamp to fields throughout the country, taking their tents and cider with them.

However, in recent years a new trend has developed. With festivals getting bigger and bigger, more people like to recover from a day amongst the crowds by relaxing by their tent, and they take a gazebo for that very purpose. They’re light, easy to put up, and provide shelter from the elements – allowing everyone to relax, whatever the weather. So when tent sales peak in readiness for festivals, the gazebo manufacturers should expect a jump in sales too.

Shoe storage is the key to co-habiting happiness

It doesn’t matter what your domestic setup is – shoe storage is the thing I recommend for happiness. You might live in a shared house, or with family, or with a partner, but at some point – without fail – the question of tripping over shoes, boots, muddy running trainers or lethal heels discarded at the end of a night out will arise and lead to problems.

Shoe storage is the answer, and that’s why I like it. It could be a simple rack at the foot of the bed, or a cunningly constructed custom built unit hand-finished by hippies in a yurt, but either way the shoes are properly homed. And no-one need ever wonder exactly how many pairs of identical black pumps their partner needs, ever again…

Anything can be fun to buy online – even portable hair straighteners

Shopping has never been easier thanks to the huge increase in online stores and websites. It can also be a lot more fun than traipsing around the high street, especially if you’re looking for something a little more unusual, such as portable hair straighteners. The internet lets you find a wider variety, in the style and colour you like, without having to settle for what you can find in town.

And as you’ll be buying something that might be a treat, or a useful gadget for your holiday, you might want to make your virtual shopping trip more fun. Get some friends to help you compare items, for example, or even have a drink while you shop – it’s definitely better than braving the elements, and you can put your feet up while thinking about all the places you’ll visit!

Working in fly control is a very necessary job

Professional exterminators do a great job. They often work in cramped conditions and have to deal with all kinds of creatures that none of us want to think about, let alone confront and clear out. Fly control is a specialised role that requires a lot of training and a meticulously professional approach.

This is partly because flies are tenacious and hard to fully get out of a property, especially in the case of major infestations. But working in fly and pest control also demands great communication skills and expert knowledge of potentially lethal chemicals and pesticides in order to get the job done. Hats off to the exterminators!

If ants were bigger, they’d rule the world

You can be forgiven for ignoring ants as they march about their business far below us. Most of the time they cause us very little trouble, unless we make the mistake of stepping in their anthill – and then we know all about it!

But stop and think about the humble ant. They’re fearsomely strong for their size, their society is perfectly ordered (no ant has an existential crisis or work-related stress), they’re tireless and can work together without argument to overcome huge obstacles…if they were a foot long, instead of a millimetre, surely humans wouldn’t be the dominant species? We’d be carried off like leaves by a long line of insect masters…
